Power of Thoughts

Power of Thoughts by Danny Stevens

One of the important points I am learning from, “Six Minutes to Success” is that how we think, translates in to how we live, play, and transact business.   Where we are in life is in direct relationship to how we think.   Good, bad or indifferent the life we are experiencing is a result of our thinking.  We may have allowed someone else to think on our behalf, but it was a result of our thoughts.   Suppose you decide a family member is correct and we try to live how they have suggested, it is still our thoughts.   If we have been living life how we expect others would approve, it is still our thoughts.

Where we are at in life at this time is exactly where we are meant to be at this time.  Our thinking in the past has delivered us to this point.  Our thinking has served us at some point.  If we continue to think the way we thought, we will continue to get what we got.   There is no judgment as to whether that is good or bad.  The question stands, “What do you want from life?”

I have lived life expecting that eventually my time will come.   I had dreams of having a certain amount of money and a vague idea of how I wanted to live my life.   The truth is dreams are only part of the equation, the real truth is the vague ideas, and that is exactly what I received only bits and pieces (vague ideas).  Those who dream, then want and from the want turn it in to a need and make the plans to get what they need, actually attain more of their dreams.  Those who dream and have no plan are similar to a boat with no oars, sails or power.  The direction of the boat is based on the currents and storms.  With no direction, the chances of it reaching a certain port are almost non-existent.  The truth is the boat will likely be wash ashore or smashed upon the rocks.

I achieved a measure of success at reaching my goals. However,  I am not financially independent, nor do I live the life which I had hoped to at this time in my life.   What I have learned is that I have not had a workable plan to achieve the goals I want from life.  Changing your thoughts changes your life.   I have been thinking how to live well, pay my bills and expecting to reach a port yet has not had a definite plan.    Now I am learning how those thoughts can be guided to steer my life in the direction that will help me to achieve my goals.

In Napoleon Hill’s book, “Think and Grow Rich” there was the following poem I would like to end this post with;

“I bargained with Life for a penny,

And Life would pay no more,

However I begged at evening

When I counted my scanty store.

For Life is a just employer,

He gives you what you ask,

But once you have set the wages,

Why, you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial’s hire,

Only to learn, dismayed,

That any wage I had asked of Life,

Life would have willingly paid.”
