Reflection on a Famous Quote – March 1st 2012, by Danny J. Stevens

“Take care of your body with steadfast fidelity.  The soul must see through these eyes alone, and if they are dim, the whole world is clouded.”

~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

The quote is valid on several planes; Spiritual, Physical or Mental.  Johann was specifically stating the physical as he referenced health.   If the body is sick or in pain the view on the outer world is obstructed by the pain or the ailment.   This is the grounds behind writing a will, being of sound mind and body.

However, spiritually we can be view life through clouded eyes.  Our references can be eschewed based on debased heart or the effects not doing what is right.   Despite your religion, we all were born with a basic understanding of what is right and what is wrong.  We have just chosen to either acknowledge this or to ignore it.  Ignoring this clouds the mind’s eye.

Mentally we can cloud our judgment by choosing bad references.   We can be viewing life through the lens of disappointment, fear, discouragement, doubt, depression and the list goes on.  This is why Tony Robbins states that before making a decision or if we need to take action to go in to our peak state.  This is where you feel confident, sure, determined, bold, conquering and whatever other word which can describe a spirit which will move forward and not accept defeat.
